What is Android For Work?

Satish Shetty Updated by Satish Shetty

Android for Work (AFW), now known as Android Enterprise, is a feature built into the Android operating system that allows IT administrators to manage and secure business data on Android devices. It was first introduced in Android 5.0 and later expanded in Android 6.0 Marshmallow onwards. AFW provides a set of tools and policies to separate and secure business data, apps, and email from personal data on a device, allowing employees to use their own personal devices for work purposes while maintaining the security and compliance of company data. Some of the features provided include containerization, application management, email and calendar management and remote wipe. Overall, Android for Work/Android Enterprise aims to provide an efficient and secure way for organizations to support bring-your-own-device (BYOD) strategy for their employees.
